Applicant will perform all variety of naval architecture/marine engineering tasks as necessary to successfully and efficiently design, build, and modify marine vessels, and associated mechanical and electrical systems. Primary tasks are: stability, structure, and vessel design. Assigned tasks may be any of all of the following: drafting, weight estimates, intact and damaged stability calculations, regulatory rules research, hull form design, resistance calculations, propulsion, vessel structure design, and limited design of piping systems, HVAC systems, electrical distribution and control systems. Applicant may also oversee construction of vessels and provide vessel construction support and port engineering services. Salary DOE, plus signing bonus.

Position Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture. Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office program products such as Word and Excel. Experience with other engineering software such as GHS, Fastship, Navcad, Rhino and Maxsurf is highly desirable. Must have good attention to detail and be able to write technical documents and specifications and express himself/herself clearly in writing. Applicant must be able to take detailed verbal direction and deliver complete and accurate deliverables and drawings. Must have good communication skills and ability to work with clients and contractors. Must be flexible, able to multitask and operate in a small business environment. Must be US citizen and able to pass a background check.
Special Physical Requirements: Occasionally applicants must conduct field work on a variety of vessels. Applicant must be able to travel and work in Alaska under rigorous environmental conditions and physically able to lift 40 lbs., open water tight hatches, climb twenty foot ladders, climb through 18” x 24” manholes and inspect all spaces inside and outside a vessel. Must be able to pass a drug screening test.
