General Position Summary:
Provide material take-off and calculations and coordinate with contractors / vendors for the cost estimates for potential marine projects as well as the change orders for existing hulls. Monitor the ordering and track deliveries of all materials for marine jobs.
Primary Responsibilities and Training Needs:
Provide material and labor cost estimating for potential projects. Cross-reference engineering drawings, bills of materials, and delivery schedules with purchase orders to ensure quantities, accuracy, and timely delivery. Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Burning Alley, Plate Shop, Machine Shop, Pipe Shop, and Steel Yard to ensure that production dates are met. Order raw materials and / or contractors’ services and expedite them as needed. Coordinate timely completion of internally processed parts and raw materials for use in production, inventory, warehouse, and allocate vendor and/ or owner-supplied items. Create and update labor reports weekly to management on job status.
Specific Job Skills:
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Good communication skills (written and verbal). Experience with AutoCAD is required. Previous experience with ShipConstructor will be a plus
Required Education and/or Experience:
A degree is not required but will be a plus. A minimum of two years of experience in shipyard production planning is required. Experienced with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS Project.
