Description

KNUD E. HANSEN USA INC is looking for a Marine Engineer to join the company. The successful candidate will provide marine engineering expertise and support to all stages of the Machinery design process for various types of ships and offshore installations; from initial sizing and arrangement of machinery systems to production of P&IDs and associated calculations. The following outlines the job description in more detail: Carry out conversion projects on behalf of Owners or Yards Support process and design improvements in response to cost reduction, energy optimization, environment, value engineering, reliability improvement, and customer satisfaction drivers Coordinate drawing changes as required to implement design improvements of KNUD E. HANSEN's portfolio of various ship designs Design and installation of "Green" systems such as Scrubbers and Ballast Water Treatment Systems Redundancy analysis for reliability of shipboard hotel services Communicate with Class and Authorities in order to clarify requirements and facilitate the approval process Read, interpret, comprehend, clarify and produce specifications and requirements as they relate to new vessels and conversion of ships Maintain a current knowledge of marine industry equipment usage, design trends, design standards and rules. Job Requirements Basic Qualifications

Candidate must as a minimum have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering or a relevant engineering field of study
  • 5 (five) years of technically related work experience with large ships for either a Ship Owner, Shipyard, Class, consultancy or other relevant employer. Candidates with passenger ship experience are preferred
Additional Qualifications
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office. Proficiency in machinery and/or piping design software will be an added advantage
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment with rapidly changing priorities and perform multiple tasks with critical concurrent deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Self-motivated in anticipating, identifying, and taking action on potential issues and problems
  • Able to formulate solutions consistent with KNUD E. HANSEN USA Inc’s high standards
  • Demonstrate a high level of accountability, integrity and ethics in the performance of assigned tasks
