Description

Gibbs & Cox, Inc. is one of the nation’s leading independent naval architecture, marine engineering and design firms.  We are seeking a well qualified individual for a position as the company’s Senior Marine Engineer. You will be based out of our Arlington, VA, Philadelphia, Newport News, VA, or New Orleans offices depending on your current location.  The Senior Marine Engineer will report to the Engineering Department Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Works independently (with minimal supervision), or on project teams
  • Able to manage small to medium marine engineering projects
  • Able to manage cost, schedule and technical product development
  • Able to supervise junior or mid-level staff on projects or teams 
  • Performs complex analyses, calculations and drawings
  • Performs quality assurance reviews of complex analyses, calculations and drawings developed by junior and mid-level staff
  • Interfaces with client at peer level
  • Perform engineering and sizing of auxiliary machinery piping systems for early concept design phases
  • Direct interface with design leads

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in Mechanical or Marine Engineering  
  • At least 8 years of professional marine engineering experience or 12 years marine shipbuilding experience without certification     
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard Mechanical or Marine system design and analysis software tools
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software
  • Proficiency in pipe flexibility analysis software
