The Australian Maritime College (AMC), an institute of the University of Tasmania, is a world leading maritime education, training and research institution in areas which include seafaring, ports and shipping and maritime engineering. The College is based on two main campuses at Launceston and Beauty Point and, after 30 years, has alumni in 56 countries.
AMC is seeking an outstanding academic leader as Director National Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics (NCMEH). The Centre is an innovative and progressive school of engineering offering distinctive maritime engineering degrees in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering and Marine and Offshore Engineering.
The Director heads the Centre and provides strategic academic leadership and management of teaching, research and community engagement, undertakes research and maintains close connections with industry partners to attract funded research, consultancies and projects. The Director will be a member of the AMC’s Executive Management Team.
Applicants will have a PhD and significant record of teaching, research and/or professional achievement in the maritime industry. Demonstrated success in generating funding and proven leadership and effective relationship management skills are considered essential. Professional experience in engineering is also required.
The Director role is fixed term for three years (renewable) and the Professorial appointment is continuing. The position is located in Launceston.
