DNV Maritime is responsible for the maintenance of Class and Statutory compliance for ships and mobile offshore units (production, drilling, and support; semi-submersible, jack-up, and ship-shaped) operating in the Gulf of Mexico and worldwide.
Regional Approval & Technology Center in North America is the main Classification Approval Center for the Division Americas and the hub for engineering resources in various disciplines supporting the Region. The Approval Center in Katy, TX is looking for an Electrical, Instrumentation and Control System Engineer/Surveyor to join our team in the Houston/Katy Approval Center.
Design Review as well as Manufacturing and Offshore Survey of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems. These systems include, but are not limited to:
Power Generation and Power Distribution (i.e. Generators, Switchboards, MCC, AC and DC Motors, Cable, Power System Analysis, Hazardous Areas)
Power Electronics (i.e. UPS, SCR and VFD Systems)
Marine Systems (i.e. Vessel Management Systems, Ballast Control, Windlass Control, Dynamic Positioning, Thruster Assisted Mooring)
Safety Systems (i.e. Fire and Gas Monitoring & Control, PSD, ESD Systems)
Communications (i.e. PAGA, RF and Microwave Based Systems, Digital Network Protocols and Serial links, GMDSS, Navigation)
Drilling Equipment (i.e. E&I subsystems for Mud pumps, Drawworks, Topdrives, Pipe Handling, Well Control, Tensioner, Mud Processing and related systems, )
Drilling Control (i.e., Integrated Drilling Control Systems and related Instrumentation and Control Systems and Sub-Systems)
Customer service management
Participation in Risk Management projects (HAZID / HAZOP / FMECA workshops), as well as Technology Qualification projects
Help support market initiatives and further development of DNV services
Participation in key standard’s committees (e.g., API, ISO) & support further development of DNV Rules/Standards/RPs
• BS Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a recognized university
• Minimum five (5) years experience in the Marine / Oil & Gas Industry
• Familiarity with all applicable standards, codes and regulations
• General knowledge of Instrumentation
• Minimum five (5) years experience with E&I systems in Hazardous Areas
• Ability to travel , approx. 50%
• Field Work and Offshore Surveying Required
